Exercising Kaitiakitanga and Manaakitanga - Developing your Citizenship Muscles.
The Active Travel Action curriculum resource has been developed by Greater Wellington Regional Council and Enviroschools - Te Upoko o te Ika a Māui.
Aimed at Levels 3-4 of the curriculum, this resource provides a process for schools to implement sustainable active travel practices in their school through student inquiry and an opportunity for students to take action in response to climate change.
Students will engage with their whānau, other school students and staff to investigate:
“How can we as a school community travel more sustainably to and from school?”
This detailed and cultural responsive resource includes student activities, printable worksheets, background notes and supporting resources for kaiako. Specific connections are made to whānau, using the 'Home Links' activities and Te Ao Māori concepts are woven throughout the resource.
