Can we tell a new, but old, story about humans and nature that will reshape our world for the better?
What role do stories play in addressing climate change and biodiversity loss?
Ecological collapse is one of the greatest challenges of our times. We've long looked to science, politics and business for solutions, but perhaps we also need to be looking to storytelling.
This short (14 mins) TED talk from filmmaker Damon Gameau is a must-watch for everyone, but particularly educators and parents, who play a vital role in helping change the story by ensuring young people stay connected with nature as they move through the education system and beyond.

Damon’s films include 2040, an innovative feature documentary that explores what the future would look like by the year 2040 if we embraced the best solutions already available to us to improve our planet. He also recently produced a short film, Regenerating Australia, which takes a similar approach and imagines life in 2030 based on the aspirations and needs of all people in Australia. The ideas in both films are applicable to Aotearoa and are accompanied by education resources.
