NZAEE Spotlights

Tackling Microplastics with Citizen Science Case studies from schools in Tāmaki Makaurau and Wānaka, who are exploring their local marine and freshwater ecosystems, to investigate the effects of plastic pollution from our stormwater and wastewater systems. Very relevant in the lead up to Seaweek!

Nature Connection for Aotearoa Educators
This new Spotlight provides an introduction and overview for educators to explore and strengthen nature connection, both personally and with your students. As our nature connection webinar series takes place over Terms 1 and 2, more content and case studies will be added to this collection. 

New Teaching Resources

Rongoā Māori: Healing People and Place. This inspiring short film (11 minutes) from Happen Films features rongoā Māori practitioner Donna Kerridge. 

Earth Dreamers is designed to support the social sciences curriculum for teachers of Years 7–8 ākonga and encourages ākonga to explore the complex global issue of the climate crisis within their local contexts in ways that foster joy and agency, curiosity, and hope.

Ko au te taiao: Recognising that we are nature through mātauranga Māori values and the collections at Te Papa. This new resource encourages teachers and learners to explore mātauranga Māori values, observe te taiao, and take action for a better world.
